my name is Thomas I also have been trying to run soundpackager Just keeps on crashing
the bottom line is This software should be able to run on its own with out have to update MS Windows with there own software Sound packager should have what it need built-in the package... I have loaded sp1, sp2.... Still wont run after uninstalling, reinstalling and booting between.... come-on stardock time to fix it ????

It's not a Stardock software problem. Mine works fine. Did you install through SDC? If not, here's my suggestion: uninstall and delete any associated SoundPackager folders, then use a program like CCleaner to sweep the registry. That will remove any traces of it from the registry. Reboot. DL and install SDC from the Stardock website. Reboot. DL SoundPackager through SDC and install. Reboot. It should work. That's what I had to do.

If you have installed/uninstalled/reinstalled without removing it from the registry, it will cause the program to crash. That's why you should use Stardock Central to install SD programs. It takes care of all that for you......

As suggested in this thread, I have installed SoundPackager through SDC. I have installed, un-installed (themes and all using the SDC uninstall feature) used CCleaner and swept my registry. Rebooted, used CCleaner again (it found more) rebooted..reinstalled, and still the same issue. Every time it loads the packages, it crashes. I went into the SP folder to see if I could delete the packages that come with it, but I couldn't find them. I us XP with SP2. I have never been able to load a package since SP came out. Since the first update, I haven't been able to get past the the initial startup (to the point that it loads the sound library)
I'm wondering if it might be a setting in system sounds that I am missing. I'm at a loss.

I too went through the delete/reboot/reinstall to no avail, same as the rest of you, it crashes as soon as it tries to load, it worked fine until last update. I run VISTA. Is someone at Stardock working on resolving this program? I paid for Object Desktop, I would love to have this particular element back on, it is truly a good one.Dan.

I Recently had the same problem. I'm running vista 32 bit. I e-mailed support in regards to this matter and all is well again. this was thier reply...

Please first do the following:
-Remove all soundpacks in %allusersprofile%\Application Data\stardock\SoundPackager
-Delete %userprofile%\Application Data\Stardock\SoundPackager
-Go to the C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\SoundPackager\Skin directory and rename
SoundPackagerSkin.dll file.

Try launching SoundPackager again. Does it load?
Note: Use 'Alt+Space, c' to close out of it if it loads.

If you still have a problem, press and hold the Windows key, press R and type the following into the Run dialog:
dxdiag

Once everything loads, please click the "Save all information" button and attach the output file in a return email.

Thank you,

Hi There

My SoundPackager just quit as well. All of a sudden today, i can no longer start the program. It loads, then says loading sound schemes, then crashes. I too am running windows vista 32 bit. I recently installed my new Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatality, could this be part of the issue. SoundPackager has worked fine up til now. Those instructions abouve do not apply to Windows Vista, the directories dont match up, even with Hidden files and folders shown?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have had the same problem with SoundPackage for a year now, tried all suggestions, numerous times, without any luck. Always work through the SDC. Too much time/trouble spent. Gave up. (Vista Premium 32-bit, new high-end machine)

Hi, I have the same problem, tried the uninstall-reinstall route with no positive results. This sucks, I have NO problem downloading new sound packages and installing them but as soon as I start program it produces a note stating that it has crashed. WTF, this seems like it has been going on for quite a long time, we need help from Stardock.

please email support@stardock.com with system info, Soundpackager version info, etc.

Thank you,

I'm using XP and, after numerous uninstalls, re-instals, and reboots, and emailing Stardock about this problem. I found this thread in the forum. The first time around this fix didn't work. I ran the dxdiag, and was waiting to here back from Stardock on this when I tried it again. After all, it was the weekend, and I knew I wouldn't hear back from Stardock till Monday. I found the three SP files that came with SP, and deleted them also, then rebooted. I'm not sure if it was SP included packages, or  the reboot. I'm inclined to think the latter. None the less, this fix does work, just make sure to reboot

Having issues here too, Windows 7, 64bit. Throws up a couple regsvr32.exe errors while installing, and then once installed the launch fails. Checked in my application log and the faulting module appears to be kernel32.dll. I cleaned it out and reinstalled, but seems the same. I'll keep it installed for now and keep an eye out for an update.
